HSA President’s Message Nov 08

I have a friend who has ordered the jumping portion of the 2008 Olympics. It should be here in the next few weeks. It may be something interesting to watch. I have not had access to the dressage portion. I will still look for access to that.

The fun show is set for November 15th at Julie Farmers barn. Hopefully it will not be uncomfortably cold. As always we need volunteers to assist the riders and the judge (me).

The USDF annual convention will be in December. We have a delegate selected to vote for HSA. There are some proposals that are causing some concern with many of the organizations like us but bigger. It is possible to request the delegate use our vote as she would (will) for her own GMO.

I now have the horse of a lifetime. She suffered a broken cannon bone 5 yrs ago but still was able to take her 4 yr old rider to the championship youth barrel racing competition 2 yrs ago and take first place. She is calm, safe, and sound for pleasure riding. I can’t wait for good weather. Everyone is welcome to visit and take a ride. Her name is Sweetie. She is of Poco Bueno breeding.

See all of you on Nov. 15th.

Ask the Judge?

What would you like to know?

Judges Corner:

Answer

Had a bad week.  A lady who sang next to me in Church Choir

ran off the road and died.   No seat belt.  Would be alive if she had

been wearing one.   She was 5 years younger than I.  She had 2 children in high school.

Her husband died a few years ago with cancer.   What a mess!    Are you all ready for your death?  Is your home organized and decluttered?  Keeping only was is very precious to you. Get rid of your stuff!  Who is going to go thru it and box it up and decide what to do with it.? You can’t take it with you.   Why leave the grieving to have to deal with it.  I think it is very unthoughtful.   Make your will, leave a list to what goes were especially if you have children.   What if you have Animals?  Dogs, cats, horses, and trailers have you make arrangements for them?  Please make it as easy as possible for people in their grief when you pass on.

PS.  I didn’t get anyone telling me they read the last judges corner.   You all missed a nice surprise…..Julie Farmer L graduate

See The Chart in the News and Info section:

Regina Thomas has been in touch with Stuart Price about doing a promotional news story on H.S.A. We are hoping to spur interest and maybe add some members. She will speak with Stuart about a time that he is free.

Karen Hoffman will look into getting an ad in Names and Numbers donated.

Julie is going to have our pamphlets updated so they will be available to hand out. We need to keep an eye out for events that would be a good place to hand out our pamphlets.

 New Business.

There will be no newsletter this month.

The awards banquet will be on January 17th at Club 1201.

Karen Hoffman will get our food choices from Club 1201 and bring them to Julie's . Russ is in charge of picking the menu. Once that is done, invitations will be sent with prices and food choices. Debi will be in charge of getting the cake.

The banquet is also when we vote for our officers. If you are interested in being an officer, speak up. Most current officers have had their job for a couple of years and would be grateful to step down.

The next meeting will be at El Vaquero on Nov. 18th. Be there at 6:30 to order food.
