HSA President’s Message Sept 08

The schooling show for Sept 6th cancelled due to illness of the judge.

There are thoughts of scheduling it for the end of September. I will send a message if that can be arranged with a judge.

School has started and so have childhood illnesses. Prevent disease spread and stay home when ill. Wash you hands, wash your hands, wash your hands. Practice good cough hygiene. Ride your horse as much as possible before the cold of winter settles in.

President

Ask the Judge?

What would you like to know?

Judges Corner:

Question:

WHAT EQUIPMENT CAN BE USED FOR WARM UP?

Answer

Warm up is so so important in getting ready before riding that test. PUT YOUR NUMBER ON YOU HORSE>  First you might want to lunge your horse... Side reins are allow, attached to bit then to the saddle or girth or surcingle. NOT between the legs...One lunge rope or line. One lunge whip. The lunge line must be attached to bridle or halter or cavesson and go directly to the hand of the longuer.....No driving or long lining is allowed..  What equipment is allowed for warm up while riding?   Running martingales, with snaffle only: boots, bandages, and ear muffs are permitted .

Take advantage of what works for your horse!  Take the time to get the horse listening to you and get you confident to ride a great ride.

Old Business

Instead of  a meeting last month, an e-mail was sent out about donating money to Region 4 of USDF.  They had 2 teams of 4 riders each who were selected to compete in Parker Co. We agreed that a donation of $100.00 was what we could do. The Kansas Dressage Association matched all donations up to $1500.00.

We received a thank you note for our donation.

The Magic Moments Show is Sept. 6th. We need people on Fri. night to set up the chain for the show. Wear bug repellant!!! Lynne is the show sec. She will send an e-mail out for ride times and start time. Mallory will scribe, Chuck is the gatekeeper. You will need to bring chairs and water to keep your rider hydrated. They will have a concession stand. This is a fundraiser for them so if you would use their stand, they really appreciate it. Please try to make it to see the Magic Moments show. It’s very heartwarming to see.

Lee March has once again paid our website fees. THANK YOU LEE!!!!!
